The Vesper, a Spanish alabaster tea light cylinder by Lomāe, glowing softly in low evening light

A short cylinder of Spanish alabaster, made to hold a single tea light. The stone is translucent at its thinnest, which is the rim. Lit, the piece glows from within. Unlit, it sits like a quiet sculpture.

Each piece is its own

Alabaster forms from gypsum laid down over geological time. Every block carries its own veining, translucency, and warmth of tone. We do not sort or select for uniformity. The piece you receive will be different from the photograph, different from the next one off the same line. The differences are not flaws. They are the record of how this particular stone formed, made visible in the finished piece.

What it is for

A holder for a single tea light. Use it at a dinner setting. Use it on a bedside while reading. Use it in a bathroom during a bath. Some owners keep one always lit on a desk while working. The piece is made to be used, not preserved. Tea lights only. No pillar candles, no scented wax that drips.

Where it works

Best in a room with low ambient light at the time you light it. Dining table at dinner. Bedside in the evening. A console where guests pass by. Sit it on a hard surface where its weight reads clearly.

Pairs with

The Reveal vase nearby on the same surface, or another Vesper for symmetry. Light moves between the pieces.

In the box

One cylinder. 90 mm diameter, 90 mm height. Approximately 0.9 kg. Spanish alabaster.

Caring for alabaster

Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Do not soak. Alabaster is the softest of the three stones we use and is sensitive to water and acid. Keep away from direct heat. Trim the wick of any tea light short before lighting.
