How we make in drops

Lomāe releases in drops. Three a year. Each drop is a limited run of pieces, made-to-order, designed to be the only batch of those exact items we produce.

This is the opposite of how most stone homeware reaches a buyer. The usual model is hold deep inventory, sell from stock, replenish when shelves empty. Inventory is what most decisions get optimised around.

We chose differently for three reasons.

The first is waste. When you carry stock, you commit capital to volume guesses. Guess too high and the unwanted pieces sit, get marked down, sometimes get destroyed. Guess too low and you fail customers in a different way. We would rather not guess.

The second is care. When a piece is made because a specific person ordered it, the maker treats it like a commission. The same hands that pack also choose which slab the bowl comes from. The slab is selected for that bowl, not for the next thousand bowls.

The third is rhythm. Three drops a year forces us to think in seasons, not quarters. We design fewer pieces. Each one considered. We launch, then we stop, and we do not pretend the work is constant.

What this means for you as a buyer: when you order a Drop 01 piece, you are preordering. We confirm your order, hold your spot in the production run, and ship after Drop 01 production completes, about eight to ten weeks from the close of orders.

If a piece is in stock from a previous drop, it ships within five working days, like any normal shipment.

When Drop 01 closes, we will not produce those exact pieces again. Some shapes may return in a future drop in a different stone, or at different proportions. Most will not.

Drop 02 is March 2027. Drop 03 is November 2027.
